Baking soda is most commonly used as a leavening agent in baking, but did you know that it can be used for other things as well? Below is a list of ten different things you could use this wonderful invention for.
We’ve all had those days where we thought we had enough deodorant to get us started in the morning until we pull off the cap, and what little bit you had left, falls to the floor. Baking soda is a quick fix in a situation like this. Simply apply to underarms with a powder puff to smell fresh!
2. ITCH CREAM
Mosquito bites, bee stings, and rashes can all be relieved with a little baking soda. Simply mix with a little water to form a paste-like substance and apply to the affected area!
3. FRESH FLOWERS
The presence of fresh flowers is something we all appreciate! Extend the life of your pretty petals by adding a teaspoon of baking soda to the water in your vase.
4. SNEAKER ODOR EATER
Being active can create a not-so-pleasant smell in your sneakers, boots, or footwear of choice. Sprinkle a little baking soda inside your shoes to keep those dirty odors at bay!
5. CARPET REFRESHER
So you don’t have the extra funds to spend on carpet smelly goods… That’s okay! Simply grab some baking soda and sprinkle on your carpet or rug before vacuuming to neutralize odors.
6. BUG REPELLENT
As the seasons change, we all get those little bugs inside our home. Whether it be ants, roaches, or spiders, baking soda can deter their invasion. Just place under windows (or wherever they seem to be getting in) to make them run the other way!
Baking soda can be used to clean various household items. It works great on porcelain such as the toilet or tub. You can also use it to clean the fridge, sink, and much more!
8. BURNT PANS
All of us have burnt our pots and pans at one time or another. Instead of spending time scrubbing the burns away, try a little baking soda. Put some into the pot or pan and add some water. Bring it to a boil and continue boiling for a few minutes until the burns have disappeared!
9. FRESH LAUNDRY
So you love the smell of fabric softener, but the cost can be outrageous. Just add some baking soda your wash cycle for a fresh scent!
10. FACE WASH
When you run out of your favorite facial cleanser, try some baking soda. Make a paste by adding a little water to the baking soda and apply to face. Let sit for a few minutes and rinse clean. Baking soda will help clear up acne and keep your face clear. Don’t forget to moisturize afterwards, as the baking soda can dry out your skin.
