Greg Landry Homeschool Science Curriculum Review
As a former teacher-turned-homeschooling parent who loves to bring you solutions for math instruction, I’m always on the lookout for a high-quality and affordable curriculum that will challenge and engage my children and yours.
I was compensated for my time to write this article. All opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.
Recently, we discovered Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science Self-Paced Life Prep Geometry course and Self-Paced Life Prep Consumer Math course.
They have quickly become some of our favorite and most popular options for math instruction!
So much so, that we have added Greg’s curriculums and membership to our list of 5+ Homeschool Curriculums You Should Be Using Right Now!
Self-Paced Class Pace
Each course contains 24 recorded class sessions, with an average length of 20-30 minutes per session.
They can be used at your own pace, and you can rewatch them as many times as you need to.
We appreciate this format’s flexibility as it allows you to structure the day around other activities while still ensuring your high schooler is getting quality instruction.
The courses are perfect for busy families!
Course Prerequisites
One of the biggest selling points of these two particular courses is that there are no science or math prerequisites.
My oldest struggled with math and science in the past because of his dyslexia, but that wouldn’t even be an issue with Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science math courses.
We also love that Professor Landry presents the material in a way that makes it easy to understand.
The courses only require basic math skills, so even students who struggle with these subjects can learn and thrive.
Math skills grow and develop through taking the courses, so there is clear growth and achievement at the end of them.
Of course, there are higher-level courses that do require a better understanding of more than the basic skills, so your student can progress through them after finishing the basics.
Grade Range
The suggested grade range for the Geometry and Consumer Math classes is 8-12, but advanced 6th and 7th graders could also benefit from the content.
Our high schooler is going into 10th grade, and I feel more than confident that the courses are challenging enough to keep her engaged and interested.
Additional Resources for Classes
We love that each course includes a study guide in PDF format, which Professor Landry provides.
The guide is an excellent resource for students as they work through the material.
While lab activities are not required for the math classes, the virtual online laboratory or Family Science Membership is available to help save homeschoolers money and time for the science courses.
These resources provide learning opportunities that complement the course content and help students deepen their understanding of the concepts.
High School Credit
Another great feature of these courses is that they count for two semesters (an entire school year) of science or math credits on a transcript.
This is an important consideration for those who want to make sure their high schooler is earning credits that will prepare them for college and beyond.
With the Homeschool Science Family Membership, you can actually complete all of your high school science and math requirements!
Self-Paced Math Class Support
Another significant aspect of the online self-paced classes is that Professor Landry is available via email to answer any questions you may have as you use the course.
This level of support is invaluable when you’re navigating new material and trying to ensure your child is getting the most out of the curriculum!
Fun Extras
Grab the science freebies, get a fun sticker or magnet mailed to you (yay for snail mail!!), and listen to Greg’s podcast.
They’ll all give you a feel for the quality of the content and, more importantly, the dedication that is put into each course and offering.
Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science Online Self-Paced Math Classes for the Win
Overall, we highly recommend Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science Self-Paced Life Prep Geometry course and the Self-Paced Life Prep Consumer Math course.
They are affordable options that the entire family can use and provide top-notch instruction and preparation for college and beyond.
And, if you are homeschooling more than one child and need math and science options for them, we can’t say enough good things about the Homeschool Science Family Membership! It is stellar!
