How Talk Like a Pirate Day Started

As most good stories go, the origins of Talk Like a Pirate Day were humble and underwhelming.

Two good friends, John Baur and Mark Summers, were playing racquetball and happened to fall into a pattern of talking like a pirate.

The game became more fun (isn’t everything more fun when you’re talking like a pirate?!) and they decided to make it an unofficial official holiday.
