Freebie Friday Party: 2015 Goal Setting Printable for Kids

Where has the year gone?! While we don’t tend to dwell on resolutions in our family, we do like to set goals for the new year. Over breakfast on January 1st, we have a tradition to talk about the things we want to accomplish and the trips or activities we would like to see take place. That list then gets prominently hung above the family calendar and, as we mark off the activities, it’s a definite sense of accomplishment for all of us.

We also like to encourage the kids to set individual goals. Whether it’s reading more, taking more walks, or learning a new hobby, learning how and why it’s important to set goals is an excellent life lesson. We model the goal setting with our own lists of goals and we make a fuss about crossing things off. There’s something very important about our kids seeing us achieve our goals and setting and reaching their own.

For 2015 I’ve created a snazzy goal sheet for the kids to jot their goals down. It’s super simple, but also very effective. You can download a copy below and use it with your own children. If they’re too young or have trouble writing, you can always write down their goals for them. We have always had our children start setting individual goals around the age of four, but do whatever works best for your family.

As Les Brown said, “If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster, your gifts will take you places that will amaze you.” And that, my friends, is the lesson I so want my children to learn. Happy goal-setting and go-getting in 2015!
