We’ve talked about Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Rosa Parks, and Eleanor Roosevelt. It’s been a fascinating look at some of our countries figures and how they all have one special thing in common. They have all stood up for what they believed in despite adversity and the naysayers. They decided not to be wallflowers, not to be content with the status quo, and to challenge the injustice that they saw around them. To say that it’s been a fascinating study would be an understatement.
Our latest study was on Eleanor Roosevelt, the first First Lady to make the role mean something. She was strong, determined, and not afraid to stand up for what she believed in. As my daughter said, “Eleanor Roosevelt was a bit of a firecracker!” Indeed she was! If you’d like to learn more about this amazing woman, here are some great resources for you. They’re kid-friendly and talk about Eleanor’s life. The last one does so indirectly, but it’s still a great read.
