Summer Coding Activity
Are you looking for some free summer coding activities? These summer-themed activity sheets are perfect for STEAM learning!
What Are Coding Activities?
Kids love secret codes.
They tap into their love of mystery and adventure. Plus, you get a thrill from solving the mystery.
Coding activities, such as these summer coding activity sheets, are fun for students and educationally beneficial. (Let’s minimize summer slide, shall we?)
When students follow the code, they must use precision and accuracy.
These are skills valuable for STEM subjects such as science, math, and computer coding (one of our favorite homeschool activities!).

What You Need for Summer Coding Activities
You don’t need many materials to complete summer coding activities.
You will need colored pencils in red, yellow, blue, pink, brown, and gray.
I recommend the Crayola Erasable Colored Pencil 24 pack.
Not only does it have all the colors (including gray), the pencils are erasable.
It’s easy to make a mistake when completing a summer coding activity.
With erasable colored pencils, the mistakes don’t have to be permanent.
You will also need a copy of the Summer Coding Activity Sheets.
There are three sheets to complete (a sand bucket, sandcastle, and ice cream cone).
Each page also has a corresponding answer key.

How to Complete the Coding Activity Sheets
To complete the summer coding activity, you start at the designated space.
You use the specified colored pencil, and draw a line up, down, right, or left.
If you follow the instructions carefully, a beach-themed picture will emerge.
The name of the picture is written across the top of the page, but the letters are all scrambled.
You can unscramble the letters at the beginning or end of your coding activity.
When to Use the Summer Coding Activity Sheets
If you are a classroom teacher, you can use these activity sheets as a warm-up, a STEAM learning center, or as a fun activity for early finishers.
You can also tuck these printables in a sand bucket or other end-of-year gift for students.
If you are a homeschool teacher, these activity sheets can help fill summer hours when you hear the dreaded whine, “I’m bored!”
Summer coding activity sheets are the perfect summertime activity, combining art, problem-solving, and a little mystery.
